That’s the intent of this article, to wake up some ideas in your head, and plan for things to do in Florida and any of your travels.

When we venture down to Florida or anywhere for that fact of the matter, we first figure out what activities we definitely don’t want to miss. Here is our list of favorite things to do on vacation

1. Sit on the beach and play in the ocean. This is a no brainer. We love to walk the beach, bathe in the sun, play in the waves, and watch the beautiful people.

What types of things do you do on your vacation? What activities do you have planned? Do you relax, go active, or a little of both?

2. Play golf. Golf is a great game. There are excellent golf courses all over the world to choose from and you can even plan an entire golf vacation.

3. Go fishing. Deep sea fishing or fishing from a pier is a blast. If you have never done this try it once, you’ll love it.

4. Other sporting activities like scuba, snorkeling, water skiing, parasailing, renting jet skis, or whatever. There are a ton of water activities to choose from.

5. Day trips and tours are awesome choices. Rent a boat for the day. Take a barefoot cruise. Venture over to Orlando and go to Disney World or any theme park. Dinner cruises, exploring, hiking, tours at local sites, and anything else that you can think of.

6. Go shopping! Yes, the ladies will love this one and probably already have it planned. I hate to shop, but it is actually fun when I am on vacation. It wears me out though. Take some extra money and visit the local shops, find souvenirs, and spend some of that hard-earned money.

7. Drive around. We have rented convertibles or motorcycles for a couple of days and just explored the area. One time, we went from Miami to Key West and spent the day there. Another time, we traveled up the A1A highway along the Atlantic Coast of Florida, enjoying the luxurious homes, yachts, and views. You can even do this as a weekend getaway. Find a cool spot that’s only 6 hours or less away and take off. We always have fun doing this.

8. Take in local entertainment, events, restaurants, and such. Go dancing, find the best watering holes, do something romantic, party likes its 1999. Remember, you are on vacation and it’s time to have some fun and do stuff you don’t usually get to do at home.

The list is as endless as your imagination. These are just a few general ideas that we always plan on doing. Be creative and try new things.

Enjoy your trip, have a good time, and tell us your stories!!!

Avoid all the grief! Golf clubs are awkward and heavy to lug around - especially when you’ve already got other luggage to carry. Golf travel cases can make your life easier if you get the proper kind. They’re a must have for any golfer who wants to take their clubs with them. Let’s face it, rental clubs are truly out of the question because they’re just not the same as your own. Here are few simple but critical things to look for in a car or airline golf travel case.

The Construction
This aspect can vary considerably depending if you are looking for a hard or soft travel case. The harder exterior ones are better for airline travel because they can take a lot of abuse while you are on the plane. They tend to cost a little more money but are well worth it to protect your investment since you can’t see what they go through during on and off boarding.

The softer ones are perfect for car travel because they are a little more flexible. They are usually a lot better for storage once you are at your destination because they fold down into a nice compact form. You have to make sure that both these types of golf travel cases have a fully padded interior form top to bottom to avoid potential damage to your clubs. Also make sure that is easily accessible with double zippers or latches that open from top to bottom. Check for rugged double stitching on the softer ones. Try also to get ones that have an I.D. window at the top along with a small padlock.

Pockets and Storage
If you can find one with lots of additional storage you don’t have to put everything in your other luggage pieces. They should have recessed shoe pockets that can also be locked to help keep the clubs snug during travel. Out side clothing pockets are also available on most models. Just try to make sure that they are expandable for maximum storage. All zippers should have padlock tabs for secure closing. The case should have some sort of an inside security strap that helps prevent the bag from moving too much during transport.

Wheels and Carry Systems
Make sure that that your golf travel cases have some sort of wheels on the bottom. These should be made of a durable polymer or even inline skate wheels that are basically indestructible. This is very important because the last thing you want is to have a wheel break forcing you to carry your bag. Also make sure that the bottom of the bag is either a hard vinyl or plastic that won’t leak and can take some abuse. This should allow the bag to stand upright.

The carry system should have handles on the top and bottom along with the side of the bag to aid in getting it in and out of the car. These handles need to be a minimum of double stitched or bolted to the case itself to insure they don’t break. You should also have a durable shoulder strap or pulling handle that is adjustable for easy transportation.

One other thing to remember, make sure that when you are shopping, no matter what you buy it has to be water resistant. That along with all these other important tips should help make your experience more enjoyable. Whether you need a hard airline golf travel case or a number of soft golf travel cases for the family in the car all these tips will help you avoid any unnecessary mishaps on your next vacation.

Fun and exciting golf vacation packages from all over the world are available just about year round. No matter where you want to vacation, you can usually find a golf package nearby to satisfy your inner golfer. But golf travel also has its own set of challenges too, so here are some tips on how to make your golf vacation a fun and successful one.

Almost everyone prefers to take their own golf clubs with them as they travel. And most likely, your travel arrangements will involve a flight to your destination. Unfortunately though, airlines will not allow you to bring your golf clubs on board with you as carry-on luggage. So that means that you will have to check your clubs in with regular baggage instead. And here is where a little advance preparation can come in handy.

If you’ve ever watched baggage handlers as they load and unload an airplane, you know that they are not especially gentle with the baggage. So if your expensive golf clubs are in with all the suitcases, you can count on your clubs being tossed and thrown around throughout the journey. Some golfers have even found that their clubs were pretty well destroyed at the end of the flight because of the rough handling that they received.

In order to avoid that, there are golf travel cases that are available to help protect your clubs as they go through baggage handling. Generally, these golf cases fall into two categories, either hard or soft. The hard cases are the most expensive, perhaps costing even several hundred dollars, but they do a very impressive job in protecting your clubs. In fact, the case itself is almost indestructible. So if you happen to travel a lot and take your golf clubs with you, a good hard golf travel case can be an excellent investment.

If you can’t afford the extra money for the hard golf travel case, there are also soft ones that are available that can do a very good job too. Of course, the protection is not quite up to the standards of the hard case, but the soft golf travel cases usually handle most baggage situations that they will encounter very well.

You also have to be prepared for the possibility that your golf clubs could be lost in transit, as this sometimes happens. So before you leave on your trip, check to see if your homeowners or property insurance will ensure your clubs in transit. If not, carry with you the receipts for your golf equipment so that you can easily and quickly prove ownership and value of your clubs if they happen to be lost.

In order to have the most fun while on a golf vacation package, you’ll need to be prepared for whatever weather you may encounter at your destination. So before leaving, it’s a good practice to check online to see what the upcoming forecast for your vacation destination is going to be. Then make sure that you pack accordingly. There is nothing more uncomfortable for a golfer than playing a round of golf in very cool weather with not enough warm clothes on, or playing in very hot weather with clothes that are too heavy and insulated.

Finally, it’s a good idea to choose a destination that has activities that can be enjoyed other than just playing golf. Sometimes the weather just doesn’t cooperate with your plans and you may not be able to play at all on some days. So having other points of interest in the area can save the day in such situations.

Hopefully these ideas and suggestions can help you better prepare for your next golf vacation, and help you have a great time on your getaway.
